At least 14 P&C associations are running large community events in Canberra, some a traditional fair, others with something a little creative to offer, according to a list compiled by the ACT Council of P&C Associations (Council) – the peak body for ACT public school P&Cs.
“Council is super proud of the commitment, creativity and enthusiasm of parent volunteers at their P&C. They have worked with their schools to put together some exciting events for their local communities.” says Alison Elliott, Council President. “It's a chance to re-make connections that have been difficult to maintain over lockdowns and limited access to school by parents.”
There are some unique and creative offerings, from a Bike and Kite family day at Southern Cross Early Childhood School, to readings from local authors at the Chapman Primary mini-Fair. There are several birthday celebrations, and many opportunities for fun family activities and kids games. See the compiled list for more.
“I’m sure there are many people in the community who have really missed school fairs and will be keen to go along and support their local schools. We know that schools and P&Cs will be grateful for their support.”
