"There are events like this planned across ACT public schools this week as part of our celebration of the important role which parents and the community play in our schools," says Viv Pearce, Council President.
"The idea is to get more parents through the doors of their school, because research shows that family involvement improves student grades, attendance, attitude and behaviour. Parents benefit too, feeling connected and together building a safer, stronger community."
Annamaria Zuffo, Lyneham's Principal is looking forward to the morning. "This is a great way to build good-will between the school and our parents and to strengthen our community."
"It is also a way of recognising and thanking parents who contribute so much to our school."
Kathy Goth, Lyneham Primary School's P&C President said: "We are lucky to have so many people that are able to participate in school activities. Every day you can find a parent or carer helping in some way, be it reading to children, helping at breakfast club, running the school bank or the clothing pool. I would encourage anyone who has time to get involved, even a small contribution can make a real difference."
The school is also holding its community bike ride, the 'Tour de Lyneham', on Friday as part of the week.
